This study aims to analyze the effect of soaking asphalt pavement using various types of water, namely seawater, brackish water, and freshwater, on the Marshall characteristics, specifically the Marshall Quotient (MQ) and density. The method used is experimental in the laboratory with a Pen 60/70 asphalt mixture. The Marshall specimens were prepared using the Marshall method and soaked for two durations, namely 30 minutes and 24 hours, in each water variation. After soaking, tests were conducted to evaluate the characteristics of the asphalt mixture. The results of the study indicate that soaking with seawater has the most detrimental effect on Marshall characteristics, with a decrease in MQ of 41.67% and a density reduction of 2.29%. In contrast, soaking with freshwater shows better effects, with a decrease in MQ of 15.38% and a density reduction of 1.15%. The effect of brackish water falls between the two. These findings indicate that the type of water used in soaking plays a crucial role in determining the quality of the asphalt mixture.
